CRFA Update
Following CRFA’s efforts, Halifax Regional Municipality’s (HRM’s) City Council has shelved plans to force businesses and residents to use clear bags for waste headed to landfills. Backed by an outcry from businesses and residents, CRFA opposed this new bylaw on solid waste through discussions with councillors and local media – we highlighted the industry’s concern this proposed bylaw could increase costs for businesses and place operators at risk of not having their waste picked up.
Council has postponed the plan for clear garbage bags, and is instead focusing on an education campaign.
