To assist with the transition to Nova Scotia’s new 15 per cent HST, the government has prepared a retailer’s toolkit.
Despite CRFA and other business groups’ vehement opposition, the government of Nova Scotia raised the HST by two per cent, breaking its election promise to not increase taxes.
As this deficit-cutting measure could dampen foodservice sales, CRFA had instead proposed that government consider reducing spending and raising revenue through privatization of the Nova Scotia Liquor Corporation (NSLC).
The HST hike took effect on July 1. Click here for the retailer’s toolkit.
