Ontario workplace violence policy becomes mandatory

Effective June 15, 2010, Ontario’s Occupational Healthy and Safety Act (OHSA) requires businesses with one or more employees to have developed and implemented a Workplace Violence and Harassment policy and program. Employers must have:

  • assessed the risk of workplace violence;
  • implemented appropriate prevention strategies and training; and
  • developed a process to address workplace violence incidents.
